Flutamide is used either alone or in combination to treat prostate cancer. Flutamide is also used to treat prostate cancer which has spread to other parts of the body (advanced cancer).
How it works
Flutamide belongs to a group of medicines called non-st***dal antiandrogens. Flutamide blocks the testosterone from reaching the cells by inhibiting the uptake of testosterone or by blocking the binding of testosterone to its receptors, thereby preventing the growth of these cancerous cells.
